Visa Check Card transactions appear in the "Debit" area of your checking account history. In MissionLink, click on your checking account in the "My Accounts" area to display processed transactions. If you don't see a transaction, the merchant has not yet presented it for payment. This does NOT mean the transaction is not pending or outstanding. The business account fee schedule can be found here.
Business certificates allow the member to "lock" their funds in a term account with a guaranteed rate of return.
DBA is an acronym for "Doing Business As" (also known as a "Fictitious Name.").Â
Most states require that sole proprietorships, partnerships and corporations that are conducting business under a name other than the owner(s) must file for a DBA certificate in the county where business is conducted. The DBA certificate is generally obtained at the Clerk of Court of the county in which business will be conducted. A fee is charged and most courthouses have records that may be searched to determine if your suggested name will be unique.
A Partnership account is a business account with more than one owner and is not incorporated or organized as a Limited Liability Company (LLC). It can be a General Partnership or a Limited Partnership.
Retirement Accounts
Mission Federal offers you several smart ways to save for retirement, such as the Traditional IRA (Individual Retirement Account), ROTH IRA, SEP IRA and Keogh plans, including profit sharing and money purchase plans.
A Traditional IRA is a retirement account in which contributions may be tax deductible. Learn More | Open an Account
A ROTH IRA is a non-deductible, dividend-earning retirement account, in which the earnings can be withdrawn tax-free if the IRS rules are followed. Learn More | Open an Account
A SEP IRA combines the high contribution limits of a qualified plan with the simplicity of a traditional IRA. The SEP IRA is designed for self-employed people or small businesses.
The Keogh Plan is a nice option for for self-employed. With the Keogh plan, you can contribute up to 25% of annual self-employed compensation, well beyond the $4,000 annual limit of a Traditional IRA. Contributions and earnings are tax-deferred until withdrawal at age 59 1/2 or later.
The Coverdell Education Savings Account (ESA) account lets you contribute $2,000 a year of after-tax money to build a school account. All earnings on your contributions grow tax-free and stay tax-free, as long as the funds are used for qualified expenses, including elementary, secondary, and post-secondary education. Post secondary education includes any college, university, and vocational school expenses. Practically speaking, an eligible institution includes virtually all accredited public, non-profit, and private post-secondary institutions. Eligible elementary or secondary schools include any public, private, or religious schools. You can contribute funds until your child turns 18-years old, and your child has until age 30 to use the funds and receive the tax exemption.
Educational Savings
The Coverdell ESA is NOT a retirement arrangement. It is a trust or a custodial account created only for the purpose of paying the Education Expenses at a qualified institution of the Designated Beneficiary of the account.
Who is the Designated Beneficiary?
The designated beneficiary is the child on whose behalf the trust or custodial account has been established.
Qualified Education Expenses
Education expenses include qualified elementary and secondary education expenses, in addition to post-secondary higher education.
Examples:
Tuition, Fees, Books, Supplies, Academic Tutoring, Equipment, Special services in the case of a special-needs beneficiary, and Room and board if the beneficiary is at least a part-time student at an eligible
educational institution.
Contributions & Limits
Any individual may contribute to a child’s Coverdell account if their modified adjusted gross income meets the IRS guidelines which are:
- $95,000 for single persons, with a phase out up to $110,000.
- $190,000 for married couples filing jointly, with a phase out up to $220,000.
- The maximum contribution per year per child is $2000.
- Contributions are NOT permitted once the child turns 18 years of age.
- Contributions will be accepted until April 15th for the previous year.
Distributions & Penalties
- Earnings withdrawals from a Coverdell ESA are “tax-free” if funds are used for qualified educational expenses at qualified educational institutions.
- The funds in this account must be distributed to the beneficiary within 30 days after the beneficiary reaches the age 30 or upon their death.
- Non-qualified distributions will incur an IRS penalty of 10% and taxation.
